Biogas is most often known as the gas that is produced from the biological breakdown of organic matter. This breakdown occurs in the absence of oxygen. One of the more common types of production of this type of gas is accomplished through the anaerobic digestion or fermentation of biodegradable materials. These materials include biomass, manure or sewage, municipal waste, green waste and energy crops. These materials create methane and carbon dioxide during their natural breakdown. The gases produced from their natural fermentation and breakdown are then siphoned off with tubing and PVC manifolds. These gases are then transferred to pressurized chambers where they are combusted or oxidized with oxygen. This creates an energy release which is then converted into usable fuel.
